Joy Lee (Williams) Hammel, 71, of Newport, Pennsylvania, formerly of Duncansville, went home to be with the Lord, unexpectedly at the Harrisburg Hospital on January 17, 2023, with her granddaughter at her side. Born September 13, 1951 to the late Lee and Grace (Green) Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Allen Hammel, her “sweetie” February 12, 1972. They celebrated 50 years of marriage last year together. She is also survived by her one and only son, Roy II and her precious granddaughter Caroline Patno Hammel, both of Enola; sister Janice and husband Herbert Stoltz of Altoona; sister Nancy and husband Frank Mincin of Duncansville; and a large number of extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a member of Fourth Lutheran Church of Altoona, until its closing until becoming a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping on QVC, vacations at the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey, getting her nails done, casino trips with her family; but most of all making life long memories with her granddaughter.

Hetrick Bitner is honored to help the family with private services. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Hollidaysburg.
