Howard M. Hoover Jr., 50, D’Angelus Home, Pittsburgh formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday morning, June 12, 2002, at the home after an extended illness.

 

He was born July 21, 1951, in Altoona, a son of Howard M. and Regina M. (Burket) Hoover.  Mr. Hoover was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School.  He served in the US. Army Tank Corps during the Vietnam era.  Mr. Hoover enjoyed crafts and singing.  He was a member of the D’Angelus Home Choir.

 

Surviving are his parents of Altoona; a son, Howard Kenneth of Altoona; nine brothers: Francis, Richard and George, all of Altoona, Joseph D. of Duncansville, Raymond of North Vernon, Ind., Dave of Winchester, Va., Gerald of Chesapeake, Va., John of Chesterfield, Va., and Ralph in Florida; three sisters: Rose Ann Tasker of Winchester, Va., Sylvia Hunt of Texarkana, Texas, and Anne Chamberlain of Union City, Calif; and four grandchildren: Jarrett, Shawn, Shane and Trevor.  

 

He was preceded in death by brothers: Harold and Regis J.; and sisters: Dorothy Varner and Mary.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Chapel of The Stevens Mortuary by Father James Crookston.   Committal, with military honors, at Calvary Cemetery.

 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
