Gary A. Bowers

Dec. 19, 1949 – Jan. 30, 2022

Gary A. Bowers, 72, Altoona, joined the Lord on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Altoona, after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Donald D. and Mary W. (Blaylock) Bowers.

Surviving are his children: Scott A. (Mai) Bowers of Altoona, Lisa J. (Ray) Klein of Altoona and Tina J. Davis of Tidioute; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Jeff (Liz) of Altoona; two sisters, Linda (Bill) Raia and Karen (Carl) Benton, both of Altoona; a half brother, David of Blairsville; and a half sister, Judy Mish of Johnstown.

He was preceded in death by infant brothers, Johnny and Steven; an infant sister, Ann; three brothers, Daniel, Everette and Tim; and a half brother, Donald Jr.

Gary dedicated many years of service to Conrail and ServiceMaster and later retired as a maintenance technician at St. John’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and NASCAR. Gary always looked forward to family reunions and family gatherings.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood. A family gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that contributions in Gary’s memory be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 198, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
