Steven F. Thompson, 58, of Newberry Township, Etters, died Monday at his residence after battling colon cancer for nearly 10 years. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Haring) Thompson to whom he was married for 30 years.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Woody and Shirley (Cramer) Thompson and stepson of the late Frank Lombardo. He was married to Nancy L. Haring for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Andrew H. Thompson of Etters and his fiancee, Marla Harbay, of ; two sisters, Connie Thompson and Theresa (Kingsley) Sherman, both of Camp Hill; a niece; two nephews and a great-nephew.
He was a graduate of Penn State University.
Mr. Thompson retired from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church, the Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, particularly ice fishing.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2009, at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 34 Third St., York Haven, where a Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Edward C. Malesic as celebrant.
Burial will be in Paddletown Cemetery, Newberrytown.
William E. Little Funeral Homes Inc., 60 S. Main Street, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
