Coy R. Smith Jr., 60, of Ashville died Friday at his residence, after an extended illness.
Coy was born in Altoona, son of the late Coy R. and Helen R. (McMullen) Smith Sr. He married Jane E. Thomas on March 7,1984, in Ashville.
He is survived by his wife; and four children: Jeremy M. Smearman of the U.S. Air Force in Germany, and Alicia M. Smith, Sarah E. Smithmyer and Bonnie J. Robison, all of Altoona; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Anne Smith of Kissimmee, Fla.; and a brother, David Lee Smith, of Cresson.
He worked as an operations manager and metal fabricator at American Roofing/Specialty Metals Inc. for 18 years. He was also an owner/operator of Coy Smith Auto Body for 10 years.
He was a Christian.
Coy was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, cars, vinyl graphics, dirt track racing, and was a past captain of the Ashville Fire Police.
At Coy's request, there will be no viewing. Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
