Carl S. Russo

Aug. 14, 1951 – Feb. 8, 2021          

Carl S. Russo, 69, of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Mary (Modico) Russo.

He married Jacqueline (Reeseman) in 1975.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years; a daughter, Typhani of Altoona; a son, Jason and wife Faith of Mechanicsburg; a grandson, Bryden; three sisters: Susan Bradfield (Brad), Marianne Donnelly (Gerald), all of Altoona, Annette Waldron (Kenneth) in Va.; a brother, Joseph (Bonnie) of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School, then PSU, and Columbia Southern University, where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. He retired from Norfolk Southern as a Senior Facility Engineer in 2012.

Carl was a member of Cesare Battisti Club. He enjoyed coaching elementary basketball, baseball, and football, especially his children’s teams. Carl loved his family and enjoyed the many adventures he had with them. His grandson was his pride and joy, and he cherished the time they spent together. Carl was an avid reader and enjoyed attending book sales with his bookworm daughter. He was an avid PSU and Pittsburgh sports fan with his son. He enjoyed his cat, Gyzzmogh.

All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. A private funeral service will be live-streamed at www.sorgefuneralhome.com at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021. Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
