Thomas G. Rice

Thomas G. Rice, 70, of Antis Township, died Friday afternoon at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Louis and Janet (Smith) Rice. On Sept. 14, 1974, he married Carol A. Mincin at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Altoona.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, David (Kim) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Brian (Chenoa) of Bellwood; three grandchildren: Gracie, Josie and Robbie; a sister, Lou Ann (Geoffrey) Gray of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Christopher (Sue) of Thornton, Colo., and John (Tama) of Ashville; and his extended family.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Frances.

Tom was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. He retired as an outside warehouse manager at Mead-Westvaco. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.

Tom enjoyed attending all types of sporting events, especially his grandchildren’s. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a vigil for the deceased will also be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, with the Rev. Jozef Kovacik, as celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
