Leslie Byron Reed, 60, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died unexpectedly Saturday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Wilbert Jackson and Victoria Frances (Baldyga) Reed. He married Lois J. Grove, and she died Aug. 25, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Reed of Altoona; two grandchildren: Preston and Janessa; two brothers: Ronald Reed (Lorraine) of Altoona and John Lantz of Huntingdon; and two sisters: Arline Zimmerman of Columbus, Ohio, and Dorothy Olive (Richard) in Australia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Alman.
Leslie was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, and he worked in clothing retail for many years. He was a member of Simpson-Temple United Parish and also belonged to the Order Sons of Italy in America, Bavarian Aid Society and VFW.
Leslie enjoyed reading, music and dancing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona (www .stevensmortuary.com). A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Pastor Towanda Acey. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
