Curtis Brenner Querry, 23, of 800 S. Colgate Lane, Greenwood, was shot and killed at the home of David A. Campbell of Box 596, Altoona RD 3, located north of Minuet Manor along Route 220, Antis Twp., at 7:30 p.m. yesterday.

 

Querry, a former lifeguard at Prospect Pool, was credited with saving the life of a former Altoona policeman’s son on July 18, 1970.  He rescued Joseph M. Johnson, then 13, formerly of 1815 12th St. from the pool and revived him with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

 

He was commended for his actions by the late mayor William H. Prosser.

 

Curtis B. Querry was born June 20, 1950, in Altoona, a son of Donald C. and Geraldine (Brenner) Querry, and married Sara Denise Zimmerman on Aug. 25, 1973.

 

Surviving are his wife, his parents of Greenwood, and a brother and three sisters, Mrs. Donna Jean Nasrallah and Mrs. Sandra Watt of Altoona, Gregory D. and Karen M. at home, and his grandmother, Mrs. Edna Rowan of Altoona.

 

He was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

 

Mr. Querry was employed as an equipment operator by D.P. Zimmerman Contractors, Inc., Juniata.

 

He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church and National Bowling League.

 

Friends will be received in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
