Barry Carl Newman, 41, of 1121 5th Ave. died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 1992, at home. Mr. Newman retired on disability as a state correctional officer from Rockview Penitentiary, State College.
He was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Bedford, the son of Wilbur and Barbara (Boddy) Cuff. Surviving are two children: Tiffany Marla Newman of Altoona and Jeremy Smith of Chicago, Ill., and two stepchildren: Mark Logan and Nikki Logan. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother: Susan Cuff of Pittsburgh, W. Nevin Cuff Jr., in Virginia and Deborah Lawson of Altoona.
Mr. Newman was a member of Bethel AME. He was also a member of Bass Anglers Sportsmen’s Society and American Legion A&J Iaia Post. Mr. Newman was an Air Force veteran.
He was a 1969 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University majoring in law enforcement.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Santella funeral Home.
