Alfred G. “Fred” Nardelli
May 4, 1951 – August 8, 2014
Alfred G. “Fred” Nardelli, 63, DeBary, Fla., formerly of Altoona, died Friday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Pulcino) Nardelli. He married JoAnne Fiore on October 27, 1973 in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of DeBary, Fla.; a son, John Joseph at home; a daughter, Janine Ann Shuck and husband, Kenneth, of Leander, Texas; four grandchildren: Camryn Nardelli and Paige, Riley, and Kendall Shuck; a brother, Joseph Nardelli in New Jersey; and two sisters: Loretta Smearman of Altoona and Lisa Whiteside of Warfordsburg.
Fred was a 1969 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He retired in 2011 from AMTRAK as Superintendent of the Auto-Train. He also worked for Penn Central and as a consultant for Parsons Brinckerhoff.
He enjoyed sports cars and motorcycles.
