William L. Myers, 61, Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of Robert N. and Betty (Miller) Myers. He married Susan Lucas on Sept. 5, 1987, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; his mother; two daughters: Kelly (Ron) Spangler of Kulpmont and Lisa (Sean) O'Shell of Altoona; a stepson, Eric (Laura) Bankert of Hagerstown, Md.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Columbus, Ohio; and three sisters: Connie (Marvin) Huhn of Pickerington, Ohio, Linda Clawson of Hollidaysburg and Shari (Mark) Izzo of Hilliard, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, James P. Myers.
Mr. Myers was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State University, where he also received his master's degree. He retired from the Bellefonte Area School District as a middle school teacher after 36 years of service. He was a member of Grace Bible Church.
William enjoyed motorcycle riding, reading, spending time with his family and was an avid Penn State football fan.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Lou Hileman officiating.
Committal will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
