Raymond C. Houseman, 58, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of William H. Houseman and Marilyn J. (Moore) Houseman-Duncan. He married Kelly Kagarise March 23, 1992.

Surviving are his wife of Altoona; his mother of Williamsburg, Va.; two sons from a previous marriage: Kenneth and wife, Kath, of Port Jervis, N.Y., and David of Atlanta; a son from his present marriage, Robbie, at home; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Ray was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a graduate of Penn State University. He was an English instructor at the Altoona School of Commerce, which became the South Hills School of Business and Technology, for 27 years.

A reception will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Juniata United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Beers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to the family at 2912 Fifth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
