David T. Hoffman

David T. Hoffman, 71, of Houston, Pa., died Monday at Select Specialty Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Thomas E. and Maddlyn M. Hoffman.
Dave was a graduate of Altoona Area High School.
He became an EMT and firefighter in Chambersburg and a volunteer at South Franklin Fire Department. Dave had been working as a security guard for Dynamet Inc. for the past 14 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Demonstrating Scout spirit, leadership and many skills, Dave earned the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
Over the course of his lifetime, he completed 15 marathons, three ultra marathons and four triathlons.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 32 years, Sheila A. Hoffman; and two sisters, Phyllis Ditosti and Linda Fritch.
Surviving are two children, Julie M. Smith of Canonsburg and Jason D. (Megan Lee) Hoffman of Conroe, Texas; a sister, Kathleen (Merril) McConnell of Minerva, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Kristen, Wyatt and Harrison.
All services were private. Arrangements were by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, Pa.

I went to school with Dave all the way thru HS starting at Noble Elem in Juniata. He was a friendly, kind-hearted, good guy. RIP Dave.

Rest in peace, Dave. I, too, have many memories of you in my class at Noble, Keith, then Altoona High. Seems hard to believe that we are going, one by one. You have such a happy smile. You must have had a good life.
