William J. Hippo, 23, of 102 Church St., Hollidaysburg was a passenger in a car that was involved in a two-car crash that claimed his and five other lives.  The accident happened at 6 p.m. yesterday on Route 22 near Water Street.

 

Mr. Hippo was born Set. 20, 1951, in Altoona, a son of Edward W. and Betty J. (Smith) Hippo, and was married to Penelope Anderson on June 26, 1971, in the Fourth Lutheran Church, Altoona, by the Rev. Emil J. Engelman.

 

Surviving are his wife, two children, Frederick T. and Tammy L., at home; two sisters and a brother, Patricia Gail of Las Cruces, N.M., Mrs. Deborah Jane Dougherty of Wellington, Ohio, and Edwin J. of State College; his mother, of Altoona, and grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle E. Smith of Glenhope.

 

His father died Oct. 27, 1974.

 

Mr. Hippo was a member of the Fourth Lutheran Church, Altoona.  He was employed as a bricklayer.

 

Friends will be received in the Plank & Stitt Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
