Thomas P. Costlow, 70, of Mount Wolf, formerly of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Dec. 16, 2020. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Army Captain Thomas V. Costlow and Mary Catherine Newton.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and stillborn daughter.

He was a 1969 graduate from Altoona Area High School.

Tom was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in York.

He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with family.

Tom retired from York County Prison in 2005 after 20 years of service. He selflessly helped others and loved nothing more than making those around him smile. He was the foundation of the family and will be greatly missed.

Very sad to hear of Tom's unexpected passing.  A classmate, teammate, and friend...a really good guy.  He and I would jump in my '68 VW bug after classes and head to Mansion Park for practice....then I'd drop him off at his house afterwards....sold basketball programs at Jaffa Mosque for Varsity "A" Club together...lots of laughs and fun.  Tried to get him to 50th via Steve Askey ('68), sadly unsuccessful.  RIP, my friend....peace and comfort for your loved ones for their enormous loss.

I was stuned hearing my old football co-captain Tommy had passed.  As many of us remember Tom on the field I cant recall anyone more dedicated to the team and the game as Tommy.  Even during practice he was always in a positive state of mind.  Tried several times to connect with Tom with the help of Steve Askey as several of you may have but never was successful.  Im sorry about that.  Cetain his family will be missing the anchor.  Rest in Peace Tom.
