W. Edward Ball Jr. 61, Duncansville, died at home. He was born in Altoona, son of W. Edward Sr. and Mary Louise (Miller) Ball. He married Nancy Zavalanski on Aug. 4, 1973, in Coupon.
Surviving are his mother of Altoona, his wife; three children: Rachel Risbon (Jason) of Newville, Erin Pulsney (Andrew) of Altoona and Eddie (Mary Reese) of Boonsboro, Md.; eight grandchildren: Jared, Briana, Kaci, Ava, Landon, Kaylee, Ian and Owen; three siblings: Mary Louise Butler (John) and Michael R., all of Altoona, and Theresa Mansfield of Gallitzin; an aunt; two uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 9, 2002.
Eddie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked in the trucking business for 35 years and owned Ball Trucking for 10 years.
He was a member of the Gallitzin American Legion and an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday afternoon, with military rites in charge of Gallitzin American Legion and other local military organizations. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, the Rev. Allen Zeth, celebrant. Committal will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
